Rocket-powered unicorns and magic watermelon boats

Posted in my everyday life by Maria on 2009/02/11

I’m a big fan of Saint-Exupéry’s Le Petit Prince, and was happy to stumble on this little gem yesterday, which has the same wistful wonder in its prose and gorgeous, childlike illustrations - Dallas Clayton’s ‘An Awesome Book’. It’s the sort of thing I want to read to my kids one day, and my sisters’ kids, and all the little ones in my life.

The entire book is available to read online before you buy, too. Kudos to his awesome publisher.

Wow, that IS a cool book. If I wasn’t committed to not buying anything new this year, I would snatch it up right away. Thanks for sharing.

One of the reasons I want to have kids is so I can read to them. There’s something wonderful about a story that’s read to you; it stays with you more than if you encounter it later on in life. I remember reading Macbeth aloud with my dad (we took turns with the parts) when I was younger. When I next saw it in grade 10, it resonated with a part of my past.
