Collide

“We were walking down the street, holding hands. There’s a playground at the end of the block and I run to the swings and climb on, and Henry takes the one next to me, facing the opposite direction, and we swing higher and higher, passing each other, sometimes in synch and sometimes streaming past each other so fast it seems like we’re going to collide, and we laugh, and laugh, and nothing can ever be sad, no one can be lost, or dead, or far away: right now we are here, and nothing can mar our perfection, or steal the joy of this perfect moment.”

So beautiful. Thank you for sharing.
I adore this book.
i thought you said that you didn’t like this book…
Ah – you’re thinking of ‘The Memory Keeper’s Daughter’.
Though, now that I think about it – the mix-up is easy! The two titles have a parallel structure: The Memory Keeper’s Daughter/The Time Traveler’s Wife.
You’d really like this book, Niki. I’ll bring it for you next time I visit.
i saw this picture and i thought immediately of that scene in the book.
i fear i’ll never finish this book because it’s the first book i’ve read since … i read the Smoke Jumper in college years ago and i don’t want it to end. ever.
lovely.

so i finally finished this novel today. ::tears::.
i wrote up a blog post to be posted tomorrow and included a small passage of the book in. then i recalled that you had done something similiar and lo & behold, it’s the same exerpt.
just a great, great book. i’m going to take a break from reading for a awhile before i dig into Niffenegger’s 2nd book. have you read it?
Her Fearful Symmetry? Yes. I read it over Christmas. I really enjoyed it. Completely different kind of book from TTW – intricate plot, many characters. Takes place in London, in Highgate cemetery, and it lends a kind of elegantly ominous feeling to the whole tale.
